Who would have thunk that I speak horse ...

Mommy's horse Diano

The other day we all went to the stables where Mommy keeps her horse. I seem to recall that I had been there a few times before, but I think that I mostly slept through those visits ... that was back when I was boring and liked to sleep most of the time.

Anyway, after seeing Diano up close and in the flesh I was sort of frightened by him ... see, he's this humongous gigantic beast up real close!!! ... and that's what I was basically ranting on and on about in my baby talk language I like to speak in. And then all of the sudden the funniest thing happened ... he turned right towards me and said, "Well at least I'm not some snot nosed little pipsqueak!".

So as I sat there in shock, I then said to him, "What?!?!! You can understand my baby talk?!?!!" In which he respond, "Well, what do I look like, some dumb mule or something. Of course I can understand you, I'm talking right to you, aren't I? I thought you would have a little bit more brains than you're showing me right now, kid."

Well, I just sat there and didn't know what to say ... I didn't know horses could understand my baby talk or that I could understand horse talk. I guess you learn something new about yourself everyday.

So, I then felt I needed to apology. "I'm really sorry for calling you names and such ... that was really rude of me, but I was just really scared since I am a little pipsqueak's pipsqueak sitting here next to you."

To which he then respond,"That's ok kid, I get it all the time. Even all the other horses around here get a little frightened of me from time to time ... even the ones that are a lot bigger than me! So, how about we just start over. I'll be your best friend if you go off and get me some sugar cubes ... they're a tastie treat! But first if you don't mind, could you give my nose a little scratching?"
"No problem!" And that the story of how Diano and I became friends.

And oh yeah, before I forget there was this other horse (Nellie) that was going on and on and on about how she can't stand it anymore. I guess she doesn't like the horse next to her stall and she wants to move immediately. Can someone please tell her owner for me? Boy, does she just run on and on and on at the mouth ...

Boy, Avery, you sure have a lot of four-legged friends. BTW, it was fun to see you this week. If you keep coming, we'll teach you how to enter data on the computer. I know you frequently help Mommy with her writing, so that should be an easy transition for you.
